Sri Lanka A’s tour of Pakistan has ended midway due to political protests in Islamabad. The team is returning home without playing all their matches against Pakistan Shaheens.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed the development. After discussing it with Sri Lanka Cricket, the remaining two matches have been called off.

The two games were scheduled in Rawalpindi on Wednesday and Friday. Pakistan Shaheen won the series opener by 108 runs in Islamabad. The PCB said the two cricket bodies will meet to finalise new dates for the two matches to be played.

Imran Khan, the former Pakistan cricket team captain, is in jail. His political party, Tehreek-e-Insaaf, started the protests in Islamabad on Sunday. The protesters wanted to march toward the city centre.

There are reports of violence, and the PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the Interior Minister, has stated that the army is restoring law and order.
