India defeated Australia by 295 runs in the first Test of the five-match series in Perth. The one-sided game saw complete dominance from India despite scoring 150 runs in their first innings. Jasprit Bumrah, the captain, took eight wickets and was named the best player of the match. For Australia, Travis Head was the biggest positive in the batting department, with the Southpaw scoring 89 runs off 109 balls in the second innings.

Legendary batter Cheteshwar Pujara has warned the visitors from Head, who likes to bat against the sub-continent team. His hundreds in the ICC World Test Championship Final and the 2023 ODI World Cup Final against India led his national team to victories.

With Travis showing his class in the Perth Test, Australia would expect him to be at his best in the remaining matches in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

“India will have to be careful from Travis Head. He could score a lot of runs in the remaining Tests as he likes to bat against India. His track record against us is phenomenal. Head was ordinary in the first innings, but his return to form is good news for the hosts. When he is in the middle, he keeps the scoreboard moving, and it is difficult to contain him.

“He doesn’t like well-directed bouncers and short-pitched stuff, but the rival bowlers will have to take advantage of this weakness wisely,” Cheteshwar Pujara said.
