Wasim Akram is the greatest left-arm pacer in the history of international cricket. He was unplayable during his playing days, and hardly any batter felt easy in front of him. The Sultan of Swing was recently asked to name his favorite bowler, and the veteran went with the late Malcolm Marshall of the West Indies. Marshall was fast and deadly accurate and was among the wickets in every game.

“I have seen a lot of great bowlers, and a lot of them ruled cricket during my time. My favorite would be Malcolm Marshall. He was the most clever bowler I saw during my career. He took wickets everywhere. He dismissed batters in Asia, where pacers don’t get enough assistance from the pitches.

“He was equally effective in Australia and England. There was no country where he didn’t dominate with the ball. Look at his Test record. I think in 86 Tests, he took around 350 wickets,” Wasim Akram said on Star Sports.

In 81 Test matches, the former West Indies speedster picked up 376 wickets at an average of 20.94 and an economy of 2.68.

Meanwhile, Akram, who was in the commentary box during the first Test against Australia in Perth, lauded Indian players for their performance.
