After many days of waiting, the action of IPL 2025 Mega Auction was finally seen and what an exciting and surprising day the very first day proved to be. Since the retention, various speculations were being made about the players, some of them proved to be correct and some surprisingly brought completely different results. Star Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant broke all the old records. Lucknow Super Giants made the highest bid of Rs 27 crore for him.

Big highlights of the first day

1. On the first day of the mega auction, a total of 84 players including marquee, capped and uncapped players were bid, out of which 72 players were bought by different franchises. Every franchisee was successful in opening their account on the first day. Whereas 12 players did not find any buyer.
2. All 10 franchises came to the auction table with a total purse of Rs 641 crore and Rs 467.95 crore was spent on buying 72 players on the first day itself. Now on the second day, the remaining players will be bought with a budget of around Rs 133 crore.
3. On the first day itself, bids worth more than Rs 20 crore were made on 3 players, out of which Rishabh Pant (27 crore – LSG) proved to be the most expensive. Whereas Shreyas Iyer (26.75 crore – Punjab Kings) and Venkatesh Iyer (23.75 crore – Kolkata Knight Riders) also collected high amount.
4. Punjab Kings bought left arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh and leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for Rs 18 crore each. With this, both of them became the most expensive Indian bowlers in the history of IPL auction.
5. No buyers were found for 12 players on the first day, out of which 2 names were the most surprising – David Warner and Jonny Bairstow. These greats of Australia and England will be under watch for the next day.
6. Punjab Kings spent the maximum of Rs 88 crore on the first day. The franchise itself bought the maximum 10 players. Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals also bought 9 players each.
7. Whereas Mumbai Indians, which came with only Rs 45 crore, spent the least on only 4 players and spent the least on Rs 18.90 crore. Whereas Rajasthan, which had the smallest budget of Rs 41 crore, bought 5 players and spent Rs 23.65 crore.
8. The most expensive foreign player on the first day of the auction was England captain Jos Buttler, who was bought by Gujarat Titans for Rs 15.75 crore.
