Punjab Kings have made a bang in the mega auction of IPL 2025. As expected, he has started the process of buying famous and renowned T20 players. Punjab bought its first player in the auction in the form of Arshdeep Singh. Punjab used RTM to add Arshdeep. Arshdeep was a part of Punjab Kings last season, but they did not retain him.

Punjab Kings, which entered the auction with more than Rs 110 crore, have to prepare their team from scratch. For this, the co-owner of the team had taken the first step in retention itself, where instead of retaining 5 or 6 players like other teams, they retained only 2 uncapped players. This was the reason that the maximum amount for the auction remained in the purse of Punjab Kings.

Punjab Kings retained 2 players for 9.5 crores

The players retained by Punjab Kings included Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh. The franchise had to spend only Rs 9.5 crore to retain these two players. In this way, out of the amount of Rs 120 crore available for forming the team for IPL 2025, Rs 110.5 crore were left in the purse of Punjab Kings.

Will the history of Punjab Kings change this time?

Talking about the journey of Punjab Kings in IPL, this team has never been able to become champion in any previous season. Most of the times this team has had to be eliminated from the group stage itself. This has happened despite the presence of big T20 stalwarts in this team. In such a situation, it would not be wrong if Punjab Kings are called the unluckiest team in IPL history. However, only time will tell whether the mega auction of IPL 2025 brings new energy to this team or not. But, at the moment it can definitely be said that Preity Zinta has placed her bet on the players very thoughtfully.
