IPL Mega Auction 2025: Rajasthan Royals have also opened their account in the mega auction. After retaining 6 players already, Rajasthan, which entered the auction, bought its first player late. Rajasthan first bought Joffra Archer in the IPL auction. Archer was bought by Rajasthan at a huge price of Rs 12.50 crore. Archer has returned to the Rajasthan team after 2021.
This time BCCI had given the option of 6 retention or right to match to all the franchises and Rajasthan had already prepared the foundation of its team by retaining 6 players before the auction. Among these 6 players, only Shimron Hetmyer was retained as a foreign player, while medium pacer Sandeep Sharma, who was out of Team India for a long time, was retained as an uncapped player under the new rule. Overall, Rajasthan completely utilized the maximum budget of Rs 79 crore for its 6 retentions. After this, the franchise entered the auction with a purse of only Rs 41 crore, in which it has to buy 19 players.
