Yashasvi Jaiswal has completed a hundred in the second innings of the first Test against Australia in Perth. He was unbeaten on 90 runs off 193 balls on Day 2 of the game and added another 10 runs to the total to reach the three-figure mark.

He became the second Indian opener after Sunil Gavaskar to hit a ton in Perth. The southpaw was dismissed without troubling the scorers in the first innings but made adjustments in the second.

Yashasvi used his feet against Nathan Lyon and played cuts and drives in front of the seamers.

He left the deliveries and didn’t go overaggressive. Yashasvi waited for loose balls and hit 7 fours and 3 sixes in his compiled knock. In his short career so far, the 22-year-old has been unstoppable. He has already hit two double hundreds in the longest format of the game while his century count has reached four. In 28 innings, he has accumulated over 1500 runs at an average of almost 58.

After a mediocre Test series against New Zealand at home, he was under pressure but the young batter showed his class against the Aussie fast bowlers.

Yashasvi used his feet against Nathan Lyon and played cuts and drives in front of the seamers.

For the record, Gavaskar scored 127 runs in the first innings of the second at the WACA in 1977. The five-Test series was won by Australia 3-2.

Overall, Jaiswal is the fourth Indian batter to score a Test ton at the WACA. Sachin Tendulkar (114) and Mohinder Amarnath (100) also struck at the famous ground.
