Team India: Team India is currently playing with 2 captains in three different formats of cricket. Rohit Sharma has taken command in the ODI and Test formats, while Suryakumar Yadav has been given the responsibility of the T20 format. But in the next few months, big changes can be seen in the leadership of the Indian team. BCCI is considering appointing a permanent captain for all three formats.
It is noteworthy that India is playing its last bilateral series against Australia in the ongoing cycle of the World Test Championship. To play the WTC final, Team India will have to win this series at any cost. If this does not happen, Rohit Sharma's Test career may end with this series. Apart from this, after Champions Trophy 2025, Hitman has reportedly decided to say goodbye to ODI formats also.
Suryakumar Yadav was given the command of T20 format after Rohit Sharma. India's performance under the leadership of Surya was also quite good. But as a batsman he is proving to be a huge flop. Due to continuous poor batting, clouds of crisis are looming over his captaincy and soon BCCI may take major action against him.
After Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, BCCI would like to appoint such a player as captain, who can lead the team (Team India) in all three formats of the game. At present, Shubhman Gill and Rishabh Pant are strong contenders to become captain. But due to his closeness with Jai Shah, Gill is more likely to get a chance. Gill is also captaining Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League. But he has not proved himself completely yet.
