Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram was impressed with Team India’s dominating bowling display in the first Test of the five-match series. The hosts were 67/7 at stumps on Day 1, with 83 runs behind from India’s first innings total.

Jasprit Bumrah was unplayable during his two spells at the WACA and dismissed four batters. Usman Khawaja (8), Nathan McSweeney (10), Steve Smith (0), and Pat Cummins (3) were sent back to the dressing room.

Mohammed Siraj’s second spell saw him taking two scalps in the form of Marnus Labuschagne (2) and Mitchell Marsh (6). Harshit Rana, who is playing his maiden Test, clean bowled DC dangerous Travis Head (11).

Legendary speedster Wasim Akram hailed the Indian bowlers for putting rivals under pressure. “Indian bowling has changed in the last four to five years. I understand they haven’t been clinical on home soil at times, but that has a lot to do with the pitches.

“I haven’t seen many teams coming to Australia and dominating the home team like India in Perth. In fact, Indian bowlers have been performing in overseas matches since few years,” Wasim Akram said on Star Sports.

Mohammed Shami is not a part of the team as he recently returned to competitive cricket, but there is a chance that he will play for the country in the latter half of the series.
