The day for which everyone was waiting has finally arrived. The first test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia started in Perth from Friday 22nd November. With this, what was being feared also became true. Star batsman Shubman Gill could not participate in this match due to injury. Gill suffered a thumb injury during Team India's practice but it was expected that he would recover from it just before the start of the match. This did not happen and BCCI gave an update on Gill's injury and told what his condition is.
In this match being held at Optus Stadium, Team India won the toss and decided to bat first. After winning the toss and revealing the playing eleven, the Indian Cricket Board gave information about the status of Shubman Gill on social media. The board said in its update that Gill had suffered an injury to his left thumb on the second day of Team India's match simulation at the WACA, due to which his name was not considered for selection in the first Test match. The board said that the medical team is monitoring his condition every day.

Talking about the match, the Indian team is starting this series without its captain Rohit Sharma. In such a situation, star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is commanding the team. Bumrah is captaining Team India for only the second time. Earlier, he had captained a Test match on the England tour in 2022. Rohit Rohit had taken a break from this test due to the birth of his son. Now it is being told that he will join the team in Perth from 24th November and will start preparing for the second test.
Bumrah won the toss and decided to bat first. Team India took some big decisions in the playing eleven for this match, in which Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana have been given a chance to make their Test debut. With the arrival of these two, Team India has entered the competition with 4 fast bowlers. However, the most surprising decision was regarding the only spinner and neither Ravindra Jadeja nor Ravichandran Ashwin got a place in it, but Washington Sundar was given a chance. Sundar had recently performed well in the Test series against New Zealand.
