Team India is once again on Australia tour. Five years ago, the Australian Cricket Board was made fun of because of two Indian players on this tour. That matter is related to Rs 35 thousand. During the 2019 tour, India went to Australia for the first time and won a bilateral ODI series. India had captured that 3-match series 2-1. But, after winning that series, Team India did not get any cash award.
Despite earning in Australian Cricket Board, only 2 Indian players were given 500-500 US dollars as reward. These two players were Yuzvendra Chahal and MS Dhoni. Chahal got 500 dollars because he became the player of the match. Dhoni was the player of the series and he also got 500 dollars. Team India got just one trophy for winning the series.
In 2019, the value of 500 US dollars received by Dhoni and Chahal was only Rs 35000 in Indian rupees. Meaning, in simple words, Cricket Australia had given 35-35 thousand rupees to Dhoni and Chahal. Sunil Gavaskar had strongly criticized this action of Cricket Australia. He said what happens with 500 US dollars? it is a shame. Along with Australia, Team India also had a share in the earnings from the series. Then why did Team India not get cash awards? Gavaskar further gave the example of Wimbledon and said see how much money the players get there?
