Yuzvendra Chahal played with the mind of Shubman Gill in the IPL 2024 match between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans. Although GT won the game by 3 wickets, Gill was completely undone by Chahal. The visiting team’s skipper was going great guns with 72 runs off 44 balls, with six fours and two sixes.
Simson brought his leading spinner into the attack in the 16th over of the GT innings.
Chahal laid the trap and bowled the first ball of the over wide of the off stump. Gill dispatched it for a boundary. The second delivery had plenty of width on offer, and the batter again hit a four. Gill was expecting a full length ball, but Chahal saw him coming out of the crease and kept it short and wide of the off stump. Gill missed it completely and RR captain Sanju Samson quickly removed the bails.
Yuzi was ecstatic and was seen gesturing that he used his mind to get the dangerous batter out.
Sidhu liked the dismissal and lauded the spinner for using the brain to take a vital ticket. “This is how Chahal plays with the mind of a batter. He made Shubman Gill look like a fool or idiot in front of him. He set the trap, and Gill happily got trapped into it. Chahal set up the wicket beautifully,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said on Star Sports.
