The T20 series between India and South Africa has ended and Team India won this 4-match series 3-1. Team India thrashed the South African bowlers on this tour and scored big scores while raining runs. The same thing happened in the last match of the series, where Sanju Samson and Tilak Verma hit indiscriminate fours and sixes. The series is over and Team India returned to the country with the trophy, but its impact is still visible in South Africa. South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee not only got beaten badly in the last match, but due to one mistake of his, now ICC has also imposed a heavy fine on him.
The last match of the T20 series was played between India and South Africa on Friday 15 November. In this match played in Johannesburg, Team India, batting first, scored 283 runs losing only 1 wicket. During this period, the South African bowlers were badly beaten and Coetzee was no different. Coetzee spent 43 runs in just 3 overs, while he did not get any wicket. If this was not enough, he showed his displeasure against one of the umpire's decisions and that alone cost him dearly.
Coetzee had protested against the decision to give a ball wide and had used some wrong words. After the match was over, the umpires complained to the match referee and the referee found him guilty of violating the code of conduct. Coetzee also admitted his mistake, after which the referee ordered to deduct 50 percent of his match fee as a fine. According to reports, South African players get 800 dollars i.e. about 67 thousand rupees as fees for a T20 match. That means Coetzee suffered a loss of about Rs 33 thousand. Along with this, one demerit point was also added to his account.
Talking about the match, Sanju Samson and Tilak Verma scored brilliant centuries in this match. This was the second century of both of them in this series and the Indian team made the record of the highest T20 score on South African soil. In response, the South African team was bundled out for just 148 runs and lost by 135 runs. In this way, under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, Team India won its third consecutive T20 series. This was also Team India's last series of the year and thus Team India ended the year with only 2 losses in 25 matches, while also winning the T20 World Cup.
