The IPL Auction is scheduled to take place on Sunday (November 24) and Monday (November 25) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, while the Perth Test between India and Australia is slated to begin on Friday (November 22) at the Optus Stadium. Vettori, who is one of three assistants to Andrew McDonald, is all set to travel to Saudi Arabia to be part of SRH at the auction table. The former New Zealand spinner was appointed as assistant of the Australian team in 2022, and was named the head coach of SRH in 2024. As he continues to work in the role at SRH, Vettori has remained in his role with the Australian men's team. Cricket Australia has confirmed that the Kiwi will see over the preparations for the Test in Perth before he jets out to be part of the IPL Auction. "We are very supportive of Dan's role as Head Coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Dan will complete final preparation for the first Test before attending the IPL auction. He will then be with team for the remainder of the Border Gavaskar Trophy," an Australia team spokesperson was quoted as saying in ESPNcricinfo. The 45-year-old, who has immense coaching experience, will be part of the Sunrisers auction table as the franchise look to add to their five retentions during the two-day bidding process. Vettori is expected to be back in time for second BGT Test in Adelaide. Australia captain Pat Cummins and batter Travis Head have been retained by SRH, while Nitish Kumar Reddy, who is part of the Indian squad, has also been retained by the Hyderabad-based franchise. Not only Vettori, the big IPL auction also comes calling for two former Australian players, who are currently the head coaches of franchises in the Indian Premier League. Rikcy Ponting and Jutin Langer, who are part of the commentary team in Australia's Channel Seven, are also set to miss part of the Perth Test to attend the auction as head coaches of Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants.
