Even before the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, former Australian cricketers have started making statements. He is trying to put pressure on the players of Team India by making verbal attacks. But this time he has faced Gautam Gambhir, who is known to answer bricks with stones. When Ricky Ponting made a statement about Virat Kohli's performance, the head coach of the Indian team responded to him boldly. Since then he started being criticized. Many Australian players including former captain Tim Paine targeted him. Even former Indian players opposed him. But now former captain Sourav Ganguly has stood in his support.

Ganguly gave a befitting reply

Ricky Ponting's statement has been supported by his fellow players. Taking aim at Adam Gilchrist, he said that according to the position Ponting has achieved, he can say whatever he wants. Whereas Matthew Hayden said in his support that he gets paid for commenting as an expert. They have full right to give their opinion. Tim Paine went a step ahead and called Gambhir the biggest problem of Team India. But now former captain Sourav Ganguly has come out in his support. Ganguly said that Gambhir has always been a fighting type of person. They have never changed and they should not change.

According to Ganguly, there is no harm in whatever Gambhir said. The former Indian captain exposed the old face of Australia and said that Australian players have always behaved like this. His tone has softened in the last few years because of IPL. Therefore, if Gambhir is also answering them, he is not doing anything wrong. Many former cricketers also predicted a clean sweep of Australia, which Ganguly rejected outright. He believes that the Indian team will not be white washed at any cost.

Ganguly defended Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir is being heavily criticized after the defeat against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. But Ganguly defended him in this matter also. He believes that it is not right to judge him at this time. According to him, the head coach of Team India should be given time. The former captain said that the coming year will be challenging for Gambhir. There is a test series against Australia. If Team India is successful in qualifying then the WTC final will have to be played. After that there will be a 5-match series against England at home. There is also the Champions Trophy here.
