On Friday, November 15, Shaik Rasheed, the right-handed batter, scored his maiden double century for Andhra against Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season.
At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, the 23-year-old, who captains Andhra, converted his maiden ton in the First-class cricket into a massive score, to help the visitors take a substantial 147-run lead in the first innings at the close of play on day three of the contest. Starting play on day three with an overnight score of 79*, Shaik Rasheed stitched together a massive 236-run stand for the third wicket alongside Karan Shinde, who reached his fourth hundred in First-class cricket. After the Andhra captain got past his maiden ton in Ranji Trophy, he played a key role in ensuring that his team took the all-important first innings lead over Hyderabad, which would help them get off the bottom of ladder in the Elite Group B.

At the close of play on day three, Andhra had reached 448/9 in response to the 301-run total from the hosts Hyderabad after Anikethreddy took four wickets for 137 runs in 46 overs, while Chama Milind and Rakshan Readdi took two wickets each. With No. 7 batter Yara Sandeep still at the crease after scoring 33 runs off 73 balls, which included four fours and one maximum, Andhra will be looking to extend their first inning lead beyond 150 runs at least, to put Hyderabad under pressure in the second innings. As the pitch at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is wearing off, it will be interesting to see how the Hyderabad batters will approach their second innings with everything to lose.
