Team India captain Rohit Sharma has become a father for the second time. Indian captain's wife Ritika Sajdeh gave birth to a son on Friday 15 November. With this, Rohit's family has now increased from 3 to 4 members. The news of the birth of a son has filled Rohit's family and his fans with happiness. While this news has made every Indian cricket fan happy, the question now in everyone's mind is whether Rohit will be available to play in the Perth Test? At present, this does not seem to be happening, but former Team India captain Sourav Ganguly wants Rohit to play the Perth Test and while expressing his wish, he has given a surprising statement.

Rohit will not play Perth Test

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia is starting from 22nd November and the first match is to be played in Perth. However, for this, Captain Rohit did not leave for Australia with Team India. Rohit had already told BCCI that due to the birth of the child he may stay out of the first test. The board had also given him permission for this. Then it was believed that Rohit's wife would give birth to a child very close to the Perth Test, which is starting from 22nd November.

However, now Rohit's son was born on 15th November, after which the hope was raised that perhaps Rohit will play the Perth Test but it is not so. In a report quoting BCCI sources, it has been said that the Indian captain told the board. It is said that after the birth of his son, he wants to spend some time with his family only. Respecting this decision, the board has also exempted Rohit from the first test. Rohit can now return from the second Test match, which will start from December 6 in Adelaide.

'If I were in Rohit's place...'

Now former Team India captain and former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has given his reaction in this matter and what he said is a bit shocking. In an interview given to RevSportz, Ganguly said that Team India needs the leadership of Rohit because he is an excellent captain. Ganguly further said that now the son has been born and there is still a week left for the Perth Test, so now Rohit can go to Perth. Ganguly did not stop here and said – “There is still a week left in the Test match and if he were in Rohit's place, he would have gone to Perth to play the Test because this is a big Test series and he will not tour Australia again after this.”

Ganguly is not the first former player who has given such a statement. Earlier, former captain Sunil Gavaskar had also said something similar. Gavaskar had said in an interview that after Team India's 0-3 defeat against New Zealand, it was necessary for the captain to be there from the beginning of the next series. He even said that if Rohit does not play the first Test and comes in between, then some other player should be made the captain in his place for the entire series.
