India's star batter Virat Kohli has completed 366 days since his last international hundred, one year to date since his famous knock against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium to help the Men in Blue reach the final of the ODI World Cup.
While form has been a concern for the veteran batter, it has been a bitter-sweet year for the former India captain as he prepares to take the field against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Nov 22 in Perth. Virat completes one year since the last international ton Taking to the field on 15 Nov 2023 against the Kiwis, who have haunted him in the past and present (after a 0-3 Test series defeat), Virat smashed 117 off 113 deliveries to help India reach 397/4. The ton helped India reach the ODI World Cup final before Australia rocked the Men in Blue in the final in Ahmedabad on Nov 19. Since the World Cup semifinal, the 36-year-old has scored 626 international runs in 28 innings, averaging 23.19 for an innings. After the ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad, he has scored only two fifties for India in all formats while registering four ducks.   While the ODI World Cup final loss came as a huge heartbreak for the star, he would play a match-winning knock in the T20 World Cup final in June to help India lift the coveted trophy for the second time. Will Virat end the century drought? The Indian batter will be next in action on Nov 22 when India face Australia in the opening contest of the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Over the years he has a great record against Australia, who are also his favourite Test opponent. He has scored 1352 runs in 25 innings Down Under, also being his favourite away territory. With 2042 runs in 44 innings, Aussies have always been his favoured red-ball opponents, the only nation against whom he has scored more than 2000 Test runs. Overall, conditions and opponents favour the veteran and it should not be a surprise if he ends his century drought at the home of the World Test Championship (WTC) holders.
