In a relief to India National Cricket Team in Australia, Sarfaraz Khan escaped serious injury after taking a blow on his elbow during the team’s training session on Thursday, November 14. The 26-year-old was in discomfort at the WACA Stadium.

Sarfaraz Khan was in pain when he left the session midway. However, the right-handed batter was fine and didn’t go for an MRI scan.

Sarfaraz is likely to play the series opener in Perth as captain Rohit Sharma is out of the contest due to personal reasons.

Sarfaraz, who made his Test debut against England, has been part of six Tests and scored 371 runs, including a century and three half-centuries.

Sarfaraz amassed 151 in the second innings of the first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru. However, he posted 11, 9, 0 and 1 in the second and third Tests as the home team lost by a margin of 0-3.

Rohit Sharma hasn’t revealed anything about his availability for the Perth Test. Head coach Gautam Gambhir said that the BCCI will inform about Rohit before the start of the series. He is likely to return for the second game of the five-match Test series.
