Delhi: Everyone will agree that if Sachin Tendulkar needs no introduction then his wife Anjali Mehta is no less. Although she is Sachin's wife, no other introduction can be better than this, but she herself also has a different identity.

Anjali's father, Anand Mehta, is a famous industrialist and mother, Annabel Mehta, is British. Born on 10 November 1967. Anjali did her schooling in Mumbai and later studied medicine. Doctor with money who is a specialist in children. Even after such a big degree, he left his medical career forever and focused all his attention on Sachin and his children. Anjali and Sachin Tendulkar got married on 24 May 1995. How these two met for the first time and how that first meeting progressed further is a very interesting story and very little is known about it. Let's look at this story.

This first meeting took place at Mumbai airport. This was in September 1990. Anjali was then a medical student and had come to the airport with her friend Aparna to receive her mother who was returning from England. She was in the viewing gallery at Arrivals when suddenly a storm came at the airport and there was a noise that the Indian cricket team was coming! This team was returning from the England tour.

Till then, Anjali had no special interest in either cricket or cricketers, but with the support of her friend Aparna, she also went to the forefront to watch the cricketers of Team India. A player fell right in front of me, an attractive boy with chubby cheeks and black curly hair, and my eyes were fixed on him. Didn't even know who it was and Aparna told that it was Sachin Tendulkar. Now both these girls have increased further. In those days, there were no security arrangements like today. Anjali had eyes only on Tendulkar. Both of them looked at each other, their eyes also met and after that both the girls ran down the stairs to get another glimpse of the cricketers and remained in the crowd till the cricketers went away from there. Sachin was then 18 years old and Anjali was 21 years old.

Sachin Tendulkar had stepped on the pedestal of India's new superstar and just a few days ago there was a lot of talk about his first Test 100 at Old Trafford. Anjali was tall and beautiful and the family had already agreed that she would marry a doctor, an Oxford graduate or an IT graduate with a good corporate job. It was not even thought that the daughter would fall in love with a cricketer.

So it was love at first sight for Anjali. Now the question was how to meet Sachin after that? Cricket loving friends were put on duty to find Sachin's phone number. With hard work I got the land line number (there were no mobile phones in those days) but also the message that Sachin is rarely seen at home and even when he is, he does not pick up the phone. Even then, one day Anjali turned the phone. Coincidentally Tendulkar picked up the phone. Anjali introduced herself as the same girl whom she had met at the airport and had also met face to face. After this he also expressed his request to meet again.

Now the surprising thing was that Sachin also said that yes, he remembers. Anjali did not believe this answer at all. Therefore, since the conversation had started, Anjali asked in a mischievous and flirtatious manner that if you remember that 'see', then tell me, what color T-shirt was he wearing? Without any delay, Sachin immediately replied, orange in color.

Just this answer became a hit and it was a master stroke by Sachin Tendulkar. Whatever happened after that is history and can be easily guessed.
