Apart from captain Rohit Sharma, the Indian team management is also worried about Virat Kohli’s form in Test cricket. He hasn’t been at his best in the last five years, with just three hundreds coming from his bat.
In the most recent series against New Zealand, Kohli was a walking wicket for the spinners, and the veteran managed just 93 runs in three Test matches. He scored just one fifty and was even bowled on a full toss.
Although Virat has been India’s best batter in Australia, his numbers in the last few series are not promising. Former Australia spinner Kerry O’Keeffe has opined on the 36-year-old batter’s form. He will be on the pacers’ hit list.
“Kohli has been magnificent against the Aussies over the years. He is a stunning player. But in sport, if the King of the Jungle is weaker, you poke a cheek at him,” he said.
“It would be interesting to see what Virat Kohli will achieve at the end of the summer. It could be a deciding factor. If he has a blazing series, India could win the BGT for third consecutive time,” he added.
The five-Test series will start at the Potus Stadium in Perth on November 22.
