Sri Lanka defeated New Zealand by 45 runs in the first match of the three-match ODI series in a rain-interrupted match. For Sri Lanka, Kusal Mendis and Avishka Fernando played match-winning century innings.
Talking about the first ODI match, when Sri Lanka's score was 324 runs losing 5 wickets in 49.2 overs, it rained and the match had to be stopped. When the match started after rain, New Zealand had the target of 221 runs in 27 overs under the DLS method.
