Mohammed Shami was anxious to go on the Australia tour with the Indian team. He tried his best but his fitness did not support him. Due to new injury problems during recovery, he could not play in the New Zealand Test series and Ranji Trophy and was forced to stay in India. However, Shami did not give up and has now returned to cricket after a long wait of 360 days. He played the last cricket match against Australia on 19 November 2023. He again entered competitive cricket in the 5th round of Ranji Trophy against Bengal and Madhya Pradesh. However, contrary to expectations, his start was very bad. The first day passed normally for him.
Mohammed Shami was in great form in the 2023 ODI World Cup. It became difficult for any batsman to stand against his waving balls. In such a situation, Team India was expecting his explosive comeback, because the form of the bowlers in the Border Gavaskar Trophy is a big cause for concern. Shami made a comeback but instead of reducing the tension of the Indian team, it increased it. Playing for Bengal, he bowled a total of 10 overs i.e. 60 balls in two spells on the first day.

Shami bowled 4 overs in the first spell, giving 16 runs, while in the second spell, he gave 18 runs in 6 overs. But during this time Shami's World Cup 'magic' was not visible. Shami, who took a series of wickets in the World Cup, could not take a single wicket on the first day. During this, he gave 34 runs with an economy of 3.4 and bowled one maiden over. However, the only relief for the Indian team at the moment is that they have started playing on the field.
If he comes back to his form in the coming days, he may return to Team India. Madhya Pradesh won the toss and gave batting to Bengal. On the first day, Bengal team was all out on the score of 228 runs. Shahbaz Ahmed contributed the most in this. He played an innings of 92 runs in 80 balls. Whereas Shami could contribute only 2 runs with the bat. In response, Madhya Pradesh has scored 103 runs at the loss of 1 wicket.
Actually, Mohammed Shami had undergone surgery on his ankle this year. Then after taking rest for a few months, he was rehabbing at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and was busy getting himself fit for his comeback. In such a situation, there was hope of a comeback in the initial tour of New Zealand Test series or Ranji Trophy. Then his knee started swelling. A few days after his recovery, he suffered a side strain injury. But Shami did not give up and now after making himself fit, he has started playing the match.
