Former England captain Eoin Morgan heaped massive praise on Arshdeep Singh after he took four wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2024. Morgan noted that Arshdeep possesses the rare skill of swinging the ball both ways, comparing him to swing master Bhuvneshwar Kumar. However, Morgan cautioned that Arshdeep must be consistent in his bowling performances going forward to maximize his potential.

“The Punjab Kings found themselves in a commanding position. This created expectations and pressure on Arshdeep’s shoulders to maintain a high consistency. Despite his strong performances in previous IPL seasons and for the Indian team, he feels the weight of expectations. Arshdeep’s exceptional ability to swing the ball both ways, are at par with Bhuvi at his peak.” said Morgan on broadcast at Jio Cinema.

With eight wickets, Arshdeep Singh is in the third place in the Purple Cap standings.

Arshdeep Singh was PBKS’s best bowler, but SRH managed to reach 182. Abdul Samad chipped in a quick 25 off 12 balls, and Jaydev Unadkat’s last-ball six capped the SRH innings. PBKS slumped to 20-3 including the key wicket of captain Shikhar Dhawan, who was brilliantly stumped by Heinrich Klaasen off Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowling.

After the top 3 failed to score, Shashank Singh (46 not out off 25 balls) and Ashutosh Sharma (33 not out off 15 balls), the batting heroes from the previous match, forged a dynamic 66-run partnership that propelled PBKS to 180/6.

In the final over bowled by Jaydev Unadkat, with 29 runs needed to win, SRH missed three crucial catches, nearly allowing Shashank and Ashutosh to pull off another remarkable victory. Originally from Visakhapatnam and initially known as a batter in age-group cricket, Shashank evolved into a pace-bowling all-rounder, smashing five sixes and four fours in his unbeaten knock.
