Pakistan white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan has invited Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament is scheduled in the neighbouring country, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has told the ICC that the Indian government has denied permission to travel to Pakistan for the global tournament.
The Indian Cricket Board officials want the event to be played in a hybrid model, with the Men in Blue playing their matches in the UAE. However, the PCB is not ready for this solution and has threatened to stop playing against India across ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup.
“Welcome Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul and to all those who will come to Pakistan. The decision has nothing to do with us as it was taken by PCB. Whatever happens, I believe the two boards will connect and this will come to Pakistan,” Mohammad Rizwan said.
The ICC is in a dilemma. India and Pakistan’s presence is needed to make the upcoming Champions Trophy successful, but the cricket boards of the two countries have refused to change their stance, leaving the apex body of international cricket in a dilemma.
ICC is trying to convince Pakistan to adopt the hybrid model but has failed to break the deadlock.
