Will the Champions Trophy be held entirely in Pakistan? Will ICC organize the tournament in Pakistan without Team India? Will Pakistan agree to hybrid model? Will the entire tournament be played in South Africa by snatching the hosting rights from Pakistan? In the last 3 to 4 days, all these questions have become a topic of discussion in the entire cricket world. There has been an uproar regarding the Champions Trophy since Team India refused to send it to Pakistan because Pakistan is also adamant on its stand. In such a situation, the controversy is increasing and ICC has not been able to take any decision yet. Even amidst all this chaos, the ICC talked to the teams participating in the tournament. According to the report, this conversation took place regarding the schedule of the tournament, which has not been released yet.
News agency PTI has told in one of its reports that even though the situation regarding the organization of Champions League has not been cleared yet, the controversy still persists. Despite this, ICC is engaged in talks with the teams playing in the tournament. These talks are mainly taking place regarding the schedule of the tournament. About 2-3 months ago, Pakistan had proposed a program from its side, in which all the matches of Team India were kept in Lahore, so that the Indian team comes to Pakistan and does not have to worry about security. However, till now the final approval on this schedule has not been given.
It has been reported in the report that the Pakistan Cricket Board sent an email to the ICC on Tuesday, November 12, in which the Board of Control for Cricket in India has been demanded to give concrete reasons for not sending Team India. Along with this, PCB has also said that they are not ready to organize the tournament outside Pakistan. Even the Pakistani board has threatened that if the hosting is taken away from it then it will not participate in the tournament. ICC has not yet responded to this email but despite this, discussions are continuing with other teams regarding the schedule of the tournament.
According to the rules, ICC has to release the schedule 100 days before the start of any tournament. In the current situation, it is difficult to say that this schedule will be available before 100 days because ICC will try to resolve the matter before taking any decision. For the success of this tournament and for ICC to earn money, it is necessary for India and Pakistan to play in this tournament. Now the Indian team is not ready to go to Pakistan and Pakistan is not ready for hybrid mode.
Some reports had claimed that ICC has planned to organize the tournament in South Africa as a backup. That means, if Pakistan is not ready to organize the event in hybrid mode, then the entire Champions Trophy will be organized in South Africa. However, in the PTI report quoting ICC sources, it has been said that no such issue has been discussed at present. Currently, ICC does not plan to organize the tournament in South Africa and hence there has been no discussion on this issue yet.
