The situation regarding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has turned nasty after India refused to play in Pakistan. The government of Pakistan has gotten involved, and now, along with the PCB, they are planning to take legal action against the BCCI.

They would approach the ICC as India didn’t say anything when the hosting rights were given to Pakistan and didn’t clear their stance until October 2024.

Another report stated that Pakistan may withdraw from the ICC tournament if the hosting rights are taken away due to India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan.

BCCI informed the ICC that they won’t be able to send the Men in Blue as the Indian government has denied permission to play in the neighbouring country due to security reasons. India last played in Pakistan during the 2008 Asia Cup, and since then, the government has refused to provide them with NOC for the tour of Pakistan.

On the other hand, Pakistan played a bilateral series in India in 2012 and also visited the country for the 2016 T20 World Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Earlier, Pakistan had suggested that India play its games in Lahore and leave the country after every match to return to Delhi or Chandigarh to avoid staying in the country. However, the decision-makers refused to accept the formula.

India now wants the ICC to organize their games in Dubai and play the global tournament in a hybrid model. Pakistan has turned down his proposal and is adamant about hosting the entire tournament in the country.
