Gujarat Titans will face the Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Wednesday, April 9. Shubman Gill l, who is leading GT in the Indian Premier League 2024, will aim to make history. With a chance to become the joint-third fastest batter to reach 3000 IPL runs, Gill will take the field seeking with an eye on the new milestone.

Shubman Gill, who debuted with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018 before joining Gujarat Titans in 2022, has amassed 2973 runs in 93 innings across 96 IPL matches. The right-handed batsman needs just 27 more runs to reach 3000 and equal David Warner’s record in 94 innings. Gill will look to achieve the feat when his team faces Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Wednesday.

Chris Gayle holds the record for the fastest player to score 3000 runs in the IPL, achieving the feat in just 75 innings. The next fastest was KL Rahul, who reached 3000 runs in 80 innings, securing second place on the elite list of fastest run scorers in IPL history.

Fastest Batter to reach 3000 runs

Rahul made his debut in the IPL for RCB in 2013 and then joined SRH in 2014. In addition to RCB and SRH, he has played for the Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants and even led them.

Gill has been a prolific run scorer for the Gujarat Titans since joining the franchise. The Indian young gun was one of three players signed by the Titans before the IPL 2022 mega auction. In his second season for the Titans, Gill scored 890 runs in 17 matches and won the Orange Cap for finishing the tournament as the leading run getter. Overall, he has amassed 1,556 runs in 38 IPL matches for Gujarat, cementing his status as the franchise’s top scorer so far.

In five games so far this season, Gill has amassed 183 runs. After Sai Sudharsan (191 runs), he is the team’s second-leading run scorer for Gujarat side this season.
