The BCCI has been adamant about not sending the team to the order side of the border due to security reasons, and it remains intact. The Indian board conveyed their stance to ICC and the apex body of cricket has now passed it on to Pakistan's cricketing body.
An ongoing issue regarding the scheduling and venue has been persistent. India want to follow a Hybrid Model, just like the way it happened in the Asia Cup. But Pakistan, the original hosts are not ready to accept India's demands, and now the final BCCI decision has created a massive stir in Pakistan.
As per reports, Pakistan may pull out of the ICC Champions Trophy. They will either demand India's replacement for the tournament but won't allow a hybrid model. If ICC listens to India's wish, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) may decide to relinquish the tournament completely. They are also tipped to take legal consultation regarding this gigantic impasse.
Despite Pakistan's repeated pleading, the BCCI has remained firm in its stance. The political tensions between the two countries have played a huge part in India's refusal to travel to Pakistan.
The last time the Indian cricket team travelled to Pakistan was for the Asia Cup back in 2008. Although Pakistan has repeatedly assured the BCCI about security, it seems a too bigger risk to take for BCCI.
Interestingly, the Pakistan team came to India for the ICC World Cup in 2023. The Babar Azam-led side played their matches in Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Chennai.
