Delhi: Mumbai Indians (MI) have not had a good start in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). MI has won only one match out of 4. In the points table, Mumbai team is at eighth place with 2 points. After losing 3 consecutive matches, Mumbai Indians won against Delhi Capitals (DC). This first win has increased the hopes of Mumbai. Now their next match will be against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The team is busy practicing for that. Till now Mumbai bowlers have not been able to perform anything special. In such a situation, bowling coach and veteran pacer Lasith Malinga is working hard on the MI bowlers. They are being trained to hit the ball into the stumps. MI has shared the clip of this training session on social media. Meanwhile, Malinga did something that left the audience shocked.
Actually, Malinga was coaching Sachin's son Arjun Tendulkar and other players to bowl yorkers, where the young pacers were trying to hit the ball on the single stump, but they were not successful. Meanwhile, 40-year-old Malinga hit a stump in his first attempt after retiring from professional cricket. While young bowlers are failing, Malinga's yorker continues to dominate. Praising Malinga, MI wrote, “Nothing has changed, everything is the same.”
Lasith Malinga's IPL career
Former Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga started playing for Mumbai Indians in 2009. Malinga played for the same team until his retirement in 2019. He took 170 wickets in 122 matches at an economy rate of 7.12. Mumbai Indians appointed Malinga as bowling coach in 2023.
On the basis of his bowling, he made Mumbai Indians win many matches in difficult circumstances. Mumbai team has not been able to show much success with the ball in the current season, but it is expected that under the supervision of Yorker King and bowling coach Maling, the bowlers will perform well in the next match.
It is noteworthy that the legendary right-handed pacer is counted among the great bowlers of the world. He is known for his yorker bowling. MI's fast bowling attack is flourishing under his guidance.
