India's Sanju Samson will again be in focus as the Men in Blue will take on South Africa in the second T20I of the four-match series at St George's Park, Gqeberha tonight.
India enjoyed a blistering start to the series as they beat the Proteas by 61 runs in the opening match in Durban on Friday. The victory was powered by a thunderous hundred by Samson. Batting at the top of the order the wicketkeeper batter hammered 10 sixes and seven fours as he scored 107 off just 50 deliveries. Thanks to Samson's century India put up a score of 202/8 in 20 overs. South Africa failed in the chase as they were bowled out on 141 in 17.5 overs as spinners Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi picked 3 wickets each. With each passing game Samson is ensuring that in the post Rohit Sharma-era he is the big hitting opener that India is in search of. The hundred in Durban was his second century in as many games. Last month the 27-year-old had hit an equally entertaining ton against Bangladesh. South Africa meanwhile will be in search of a series-levelling win. Captain Aiden Markram said that the team wanted to perform better while batting. "We wanted to get off to a better start (with the bat) and that's where we lost the game," South Africa captain Markram said. To beat India, Markram, Tristan Stubbs, Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller, who form the backbone of South Africa's batting, will have to come good. The four batters were all dismissed under 30 in Durban. South Africa's bowling looked in place as seamers Marco Jansen (1-24 in four overs) and Gerald Coetzee (3-37) were the pick of the home attack.
