Actually, not in cricket but in the recently organized competition in Mizoram Premier League, there have been allegations of alleged match fixing. After this, three clubs, 24 players and three club officials have been banned. Three clubs – Sihaphir Wenghlun FC, FC Bethlehem and Ramhun Athletic FC – have been banned for three years for allegedly manipulating the results of matches in the Mizoram Premier League. Mizoram Football Association (MFA) has recently concluded Mizoram Premier League (MPL-11).
Three clubs, three club officials and 24 players have been banned for alleged “match manipulation” in MPL (Match Fixing). Among those punished was Ramhun Atlético FC's league top scorer Félix Lalruatsanga. Who scored eight goals during the season. In a statement, the MFA announced that with the assistance of local law enforcement, it had discovered significant cases of corruption within the league. “These actions are a serious violation of our values, threaten the integrity of our game, and insult the fans who support Mizoram football,” the statement said.
Clubs involved in these activities will face participation sanctions in the future. While players and officials will be suspended and disciplined appropriately. The banned clubs – Sihfire Wenghlun FC, Ramhun Atlético FC and FC Bethlehem – each received a three-year ban, with Sihfire Wenghlun FC notably finishing in the top four of the league. In addition, one official from each club was suspended (match fixing). Which also includes Robert Laldithara of Sihfire Wenghlun FC.
Of the 24 players banned, 14 were from Sifir Wenghlun FC, with Sifir Wenghlun FC receiving the maximum ban (Match Fixing). The MFA imposed a lifetime ban on two players involved in the alleged corruption, a five-year ban on four players, a three-year ban on 10 football players and a one-year ban on eight players. Who were banned for five years. Two players, Lalnunjama of Chanmari FC and El Lotha of FC Bethlehem, were banned for life.
Seeking support from the football community during these challenging times, the MFA said, “We call on football fans, partners and the wider football community to stand with us in tackling this challenging (match fixing) chapter.” The association acknowledged that the scandal could damage the league's reputation and stressed its commitment to move forward with transparency and integrity.
