Australia captain Pat Cummins is wary of India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant's threat ahead of the all-important Test series against India.
Notably, India and Australia will take on each other in a five-match Test series beginning from November 22. India desperately need to win the series by 4-1 to qualify for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 without depending on other's results. One of the key players for India in the series will be wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, Ahead of the series, Pat Cummins acknowledged Pant's threat, mentioning his ability to move the game quickly, and said that they would come up with good plans to counter him. "Yeah, he is someone who always moves the game on pretty quickly, so for some of the players, you have to have some sound plans, too. He's played well, he had a good series out here in Australia last time. So yeah, we know he can be dangerous when he gets going, so [we'll] try and have some good plans and hope they come off," Cummins told HindustanTimes. Rishabh Pant's stellar record in Australia Ever since his comeback to Test cricket, Pant has been in terrific form having accumulated 422 runs from five matches at an average of 46.88 and a strike rate of 86.47 with one hundred and three fifties to his name. He was the highest run scorer of their recent series against New Zealand with 261 runs to his name from six innings.  boasting a magnificent average of 62.40 in the country after scoring 624 runs from 12 innings with one hundred and two 80+ scores (89* and 97). Hence, with his current form Pant will be once again expected to play a key role for India as he has a face-off with Australia's premier spinner Nathan Lyon. The off-spinner has dismissed Pant most times in his career (5) but the India star has the staggering average of 43.20 against him. Hence, Pant and Lyon having a go against each other will be a mouth-watering prospect in the upcoming series.
