Pakistan’s interim head coach, Jason Gillespie, has hailed India National Cricket Team pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Australia skipper Pat Cummins for their bowling abilities. The two will face off in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Gillespie discussed how these two will pose challenges for the batters in five Tests.

In an interview with the Indian Express, Jason highlighted the skills of the two seamers. Cummins and Bumrah are known for their consistency across formats. Gillespie mentioned that Bumrah’s terrific track record in Australia makes him a force to reckon with.

“They attack the batters from the first ball and bowl at a good pace and nagging line and length. They always put a question mark on batters’ technique. They make sure that a batter makes a good decision against them, or else they will send him back to the dressing room.

“Their accuracy is on a different level and they bowl unplayable deliveries. Whether it is about swing or the extra pace, Jasprit Bumrah and Pat Cummins are spot on,” he added.

Bumrah has played seven Tests in Australia, taking 32 wickets at an average of 21.25. As India’s vice-captain for the series, Bumrah will have to lead the bowling attack. Cummins will have the support of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood.

Gillespie also pointed out that Australia will have the services of a world-class spinner, Nathan Lyon, to trouble the Indian batters.

Meanwhile, Australia defeated Pakistan by 2 wickets in the first ODI. Although Haris Rauf (3 wickets) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (2 wickets) bowled well, the Men in Green couldn’t defend 203 runs.
