Gautam Gambhir's performance as head coach has not been anything special so far. He participated in five series as head coach, out of which Team India lost two series. First the team lost the ODI series against Sri Lanka and then Team India lost the Test series 3-0 against New Zealand at its own home. After the defeat against New Zealand, question marks are being raised on Gautam Gambhir. Now such reports are coming that soon there will be a meeting of BCCI in which questions will be asked to Gautam Gambhir. He will be asked why Team India lost so badly in New Zealand and what is their future plan?
According to the report of Times of India, BCCI officials are going to hold a review meeting soon in which apart from head coach Gautam Gambhir, captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar will also be present. In this meeting, Gambhir will be asked as to how Team India lost the Test series despite all his demands being fulfilled. Besides, he can also be asked questions on the pitch of Mumbai and Pune Test. In fact, after the defeat in the Bengaluru Test, Team India made spin friendly pitches in Pune and Mumbai due to which BCCI and Team India had avoided it during the England series. Even in the series against England, the Indian team lost on rank turner and after that in the entire series such pitches were made which turned from the third or fourth day. But it is being claimed that on the instructions of Gautam Gambhir, a spin friendly pitch was made again and this caused loss to Team India.
Reports are such that BCCI has accepted every demand of Gautam Gambhir. He was even included in the selection committee meeting for the Australia tour. Gautam Gambhir had full involvement in the team selection. The same was seen in the previous series also. Now if the results are bad then obviously BCCI will also ask questions and the same is going to happen in future.
