Third win for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. Sunrisers beat the exciting Punjab Kings by two runs. Batting first, Sunrisers scored 182 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Punjab’s reply ended at 180 for six.
Sunrisers got off to a poor start in the match. Travis Head (21), Abhishek Sharma (16), Aiden Markram (0), Rahul Tripathi (11) and Heinrich Klaasen (9) disappointed. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who came to the crease as the fourth man, put the bowlers at ease. Sunrisers score reached 150 when Nitish got out with 64 runs off 37 balls. Abdul Samad (25 off 12 balls) and Shabazz Ahmed (14 off 7 balls) won.
For Punjab, Arshdeep Singh took four wickets, Sam Karan and Harshal Patel took two wickets each. Kagiso Rabada managed to take a wicket. In reply, Punjab also had a poor start in batting. Three wickets were lost in the first six overs. Shikhar Dhawan was out for 14, Jonny Berstow for zero and Prabhsimran Singh for four. Those who tried to fight later also lost wickets at regular intervals.
Sam Curran (29), Sikander Raza (28) and Jitesh Sharma (19) were out. However, Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma took the fight to the last ball but the final result was a two-run defeat.
Shashank remained unbeaten on 46 off 25 balls and Ashutosh on 33 off 15 balls. Bhuvanveshar Kumar took two wickets for Sunrisers. Cummins, Natarajan, Nitish Kumar and Unadkat took a wicket each.
