Rohit Sharma is not in form these days. His performance has been very poor in recent times. Under the captaincy of Rohit, Team India has failed to leave its mark in ODI and Test. After the clean sweep in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, the Indian team has also got a clean sweep in the New Zealand Test series at home. Now it is the turn of the Australia tour, where a 5-match test series is to be held. The final of the World Test Championship also depends on the results of these matches. In view of this, Team India's veteran cricketer and former selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth has given a warning regarding the Indian captain. He has also made a shocking claim about Rohit's career.
Srikanth has warned the management of the Indian team through his YouTube channel. He has talked about finding Rohit's replacement as soon as possible. He has claimed that if the Indian team does not perform well on the Australia tour starting from November 22, then Rohit will take retirement from Test cricket. Srikanth said on his YouTube channel that 'The Indian team will have to keep in mind that Rohit is gradually getting older. He has already left T20 cricket and if his performance in Australia is not good then he himself will leave Test cricket also. Therefore, it is important to think ahead.
Srikanth seemed quite impressed with Rohit's honesty after his poor performance against New Zealand. He praised Rohit for accepting his shortcomings in captaincy and batting. Srikanth said that 'at least Rohit has the courage to admit his mistake. This is the biggest thing and this is why any player comes back to his form again. I believe he has taken the first step and is on the path to recovery.
For Rohit Sharma, the New Zealand Test series proved to be the worst series of his career as a batsman and captain. The Indian captain scored 91 runs in this series at an average of just 15.16. This is the worst average of his Test career in a Test series of at least 3 matches. Not only this, amidst the dominance of spin bowlers, two fast bowlers troubled them a lot. Against New Zealand, Rohit was out against the pacers 4 times out of 6. At the same time, Rohit's decisions as captain were also wrong on many occasions, due to which the Indian team got a clean sweep in the 3-match Test series at home for the first time.
