Team India pacer Arshdeep Singh is on the verge of a scripting massive record in T20Is. The left-arm seamer has the chance of taking most wickets by an India National Cricket Team bowler in the Men’s T20Is in a calendar year. In 14 contests this year, Arshdeep has amassed 28 wickets at an economy rate of 7.14 with his best figures being 4-0-9-4 against the United States of America in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 earlier this year.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up 37 wickets from 32 games at an economy rate of 6.98. The second spot is occupied by Arshdeep, who took 33 scalps from 21 contests at an economy rate of 8.17. He will have a chance to surpass Bhuvneshwar’s record in the team’s upcoming four-match T20I series against South Africa.
Arshdeep is currently fourth on the list of most wickets taken by an Indian bowler in the Men’s T20Is. In 56 matches, he has picked up 87 wickets at an economy rate of 8.28 with two four-wicket hauls. If he manages to take 10 or more scalps in the series against the Proteas, he will become the Men in Blue’s leading wicket-taker in the shortest format.
Arshdeep needs 13 wickets to become only the second Indian cricketer after Deepti Sharma to take 100 scalps in T20Is.
The first T20I will take place on November 8 at the Kingsmead in Durban. Gqeberha, Centurion and Johannesburg will host the remaining three matches on November 10, 13 and 15 respectively
