The mega auction of IPL 2025 has been announced. After several days of waiting, it has become clear that the auction will be held outside India for the second consecutive year. While last year the mini auction was held in Dubai, UAE, this time the mega auction will be held in the big city Jeddah of its neighboring country Saudi Arabia. BCCI announced this on 5 October. Like every time, this time too the mega auction will last for 2 days and will be organized on 24th and 25th November. This time the auction is going to be big because a total of 1574 players have registered for the auction, out of which only 204 players will get lucky.
BCCI announced every important detail related to the mega auction on Tuesday 5 October. In a press release issued by IPL, it was told that the mega auction will be completed in Jeddah on 24 and 25 November. The last date for registration of players for this auction was November 4, after the completion of which the board made this announcement the very next day. Out of 1574 players participating in the auction, 1165 are Indian and 409 are foreign players.
This time, out of 1574 players who have given their names for the auction, a total of 320 are capped players. 'Capped players' are those players who have played international cricket. Similarly, players who have not made their international debut are called uncapped players. This time 1224 uncapped players will participate in the auction. Apart from these, 30 players from associate teams are also participating, who are from UAE, America, Scotland, Netherlands, Canada and Italy.
According to the IPL press release, a total of 48 capped Indian players will enter the auction, while a total of 965 uncapped Indian players will be part of it. Of these, there are 152 uncapped players who have played in the IPL before. A total of 272 capped international cricketers will be part of it, while 104 uncapped international players will participate. Out of these, 3 uncapped players have been a part of IPL earlier also.
Now the question is, how many players from which country will participate? The answer is South Africa. This time, 91 players from South Africa, which lost to India in the final of T20 World Cup 2024, will be part of the auction, which is more than teams like Australia and West Indies. A total of 76 players will field from Australia. The most important thing is that for the first time a cricketer from Italy has also registered for the auction.
