India lost three consecutive Test matches against New Zealand. It was the team’s first-ever series whitewash involving three matches at home. Rohit Sharma scored 91 runs in six innings and his performance as a captain was also questioned. He looked clueless against the Kiwis pacers. Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has spoken about Rohit’s form ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.

In his conversation with The Times of India, Danish Kaneria said that Rohit Sharma should bat at no.3 and leave his opening slot for Shubman Gill. He mentioned that Rohit had difficulty against Tim Southee and Matt Henry in the New Zealand series and the ball will move more in Australia.

“I feel Rohit Sharma should change his batting slot as struggled against the pacers in India. Tim Southee got his wicket twice. Tte ball will move more in Australia,” he said.

Danish Kaneria said that Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill should open for the visiting team and let Rohit bat at number three. He also opined that head coach Gautam Gambhir needs to manage the batting line-up of his team.

“Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal should open the innings for the Indian team. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli at three and four will help the scoring rate..Gambhir will have to play an important role as India also have Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin,” he added.
