Following the decision of Punjab Kings to not retain ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, the Indian fast bowler unfollowed the franchise on Instagram, apart from removing all posts related to them including photos, reels, and highlights.
With that, the rumour mill is swirling about a major fallout between Arshdeep Singh and Punjab Kings, which might signal an end to their association for a foreseeable future. Notably, Arshdeep Singh made his IPL debut in Punjab Kings colours in 2019, and he gradually became one of the best fast bowlers in India over the past five years or so, making his way to the Indian cricket team. In his 65 appearances for PBKS, the left-armer picked up 76 wickets in the IPL while showcasing his ability to swing and seam the new ball before delivering his trademark yorkers in the death overs, to raise his stock considerably.
Arshdeep Singh was expected to be Punjab Kings' first retention for IPL 2025 ahead of mega auction Shortly after the 2024 season of the IPL, Arshdeep Singh played a vital role for India in securing their first ICC trophy in more than a decade, winning the T20 World Cup earlier this year in the USA and the Caribbean. But despite that, the team management at Punjab Kings didn't retain him for the IPL 2025 season because they reportedly assessed that he could be bought from the mega auction at a cheaper rate than spending INR 18 Crore for his services. It has led to Arshdeep Singh clearly showcasing his unhappiness towards Punjab Kings on Instagram for not retaining him as their first choice player since they only spent INR 8 Crore to re-sign uncapped players Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh. Furthermore, such a reaction from Arshdeep Singh has put a big question mark on whether PBKS will be using one of their four Right-To-Match (RTM) cards, to buy him back in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
