The first innings of Mumbai Test was limited to only 263 runs. New Zealand's left arm spinner Ajaz Patel had an important contribution in this. He took 5 wickets during India's first innings. Because of him the Indian team could take a lead of only 28 runs. Actually, Team India had made a great start on the second day and after the first session had scored 195 runs at the loss of 5 wickets. In such a situation, the Indian team seemed to be taking a big lead. But in the second session, Ajaz Patel sent Shubhman Gill, Sarfaraz Khan and Ashwin to the pavilion after Ravindra Jadeja was out. On the first day also he had dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mohammad Siraj.
