Team India: Team India recently went to Sri Lanka soon after Gautam Gambhir was appointed head coach. Team India had won in the T20 series held in Sri Lanka, whereas in the ODI series, Sri Lanka had proved its mettle. In the Test format, both the countries last played a series in the year 2022, whereas Team India played its last series in Sri Lanka in the year 2017.
In such a situation, reports are coming in the media that after years, Team India can once again go to Sri Lanka to play a 2-Test series, for which the selection committee will give the responsibility of captaincy in the 17-member team squad to Jasprit Bumrah. At the same time, the names of two legendary batsmen of Team India, Virat and Rohit Sharma, will not be selected for this tour.
Team India last played a Test series on the Sri Lanka tour under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. Talking about the Test series on Sri Lanka tour, according to the Future Tour Planning (FTP) of Team India, the Indian team will tour Sri Lanka in the month of August 2026. For which the selection committee of BCCI can select not 15 but 17 member team squad.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are currently in very bad form in Test cricket. If the Test form of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma continues like this, then after the England tour next year, both the legends will have to announce their retirement from Test cricket. If this happens, then Jasprit Bumrah will take over his responsibility as the new Test captain of Team India.
