After several days of speculation and discussions, the picture is finally becoming clear. Rishabh Pant's face will not be visible in the dugout of Delhi Capitals in the next season of IPL. On Wednesday, October 30, a day before the IPL retention deadline, a report revealed that Pant and Delhi have parted ways. With this, the relationship between these two which had been going on for the last 9 years has ended. Pant made his debut in IPL for Delhi in 2016 and was a part of this franchise since then. Pant is parting ways but Delhi has decided to retain 4 players including Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav.

DC did not accept the demand, 9 years journey ended

According to the report of Times of India, there were several rounds of discussions regarding retention between Rishabh Pant and Delhi Capitals but no consensus could be reached between the two and now Delhi has decided to release Pant. It is being told that Pant wanted to remain the captain of the team and apart from this he had also made some demands from the team owners but the franchise management was not ready for this. Especially the franchise was not confident about Pant's captaincy and hence it has been decided not to retain Pant.

Pant was made the captain of the team by Delhi in 2021 and even after returning after the accident this year, he got the captaincy again. However, during Pant's tenure, Delhi reached the playoffs only once and stood third. In such a situation, Pant will be seen in a new team this time and it is possible that he can become India's most expensive player in the mega auction. Many reports have claimed that teams like Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore are in the race to buy him.

These 4 players will be retained

As far as retention is concerned, Delhi Capitals seems to be retaining 4 players. In this, the first retention will be star all-rounder Akshar Patel, while the second retention will be spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Apart from him, the franchise will also retain South African emerging batsman Tristan Stubbs, who scored a lot of runs in the last season. Young wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek Porel will be retained as an uncapped player. In this way, the franchise will also have the option to buy 2 players with Right to Match during the mega auction.
