Stubbs took the Bangladeshi bowlers to the cleaners as he smashed six boundaries and three massive sixes in his hundred. Opting to bat first, South Africa lost the wicket of skipper Aiden Markram early on in the innings for 33 runs, paving way for Stubbs to join in Tony de Zorzi on the crease. Zorzi and Stubbs then added together a massive 201 runs for the second wicket to devastate any attempts made by the Bangladesh bowlers to control the contest and stand ahead. While the former's century received equal applauds, Stubbs' hundred was recognised more for being the maiden in the longest format of the game.
