The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the list of nominees for the ICC Men’s and Women’s Player of the Month awards, recognizing performances in March.
The awards aim to highlight outstanding individual achievements on the international cricket scene, with the March shortlist representing a variety of formats.
The Men’s Player of the Month shortlist features a key player in Ireland’s first men’s Test win, a high-performing New Zealand bowler, and a Sri Lankan Test batsman who set new records.
Mark Adair is nominated for the first time for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award, having led Ireland to a Test victory over Afghanistan and made significant contributions in shorter formats. Matt Henry of New Zealand also had a fruitful month, taking wickets consistently in his team’s World Test Championship series against Australia.
The list is completed by Kamindu Mendis, a Sri Lankan batsman nominated for his exceptional batting as Sri Lanka triumphed over Bangladesh in the Test format.
The Women’s shortlist acknowledges accomplishments in both shorter formats, with nominees including a dynamic young English batter and renowned all-rounders from Australia and New Zealand.
Maia Bouchier of England topped the run-scoring charts in her team’s successful T20I series in New Zealand, earning her first nomination.
Ashleigh Gardner, a four-time recipient of the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award, is once again nominated following her exceptional performances in Australia’s ODI series win over Bangladesh.
Despite New Zealand’s loss in the series against England, Amelia Kerr stood out as the top run-scorer and wicket-taker for the White Ferns in the March matches.
