Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the India A team for the Australia tour. Star wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan, who was out of Team India, has also been included in the 15-member team. Powerful batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad has been given the captaincy of the team.
India A will play two first class matches against Australia A in McCoy and Melbourne. After this, there will be an intra squad match against the senior Indian team in Perth. The first Test between the A teams of India and Australia will be played from 31 October to 3 November, while the second match will be played from 7 to 10 November. After this, an intra squad match will be played in Perth between 15th and 17th November.
Ishan Kishan was dropped from the central contract in February 2024 due to not giving preference to domestic cricket. At that time, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had warned that players not playing in Team India should participate in domestic cricket to make a place in the national team.
Ishaan played his last match for India in December 2023. After joining the South Africa tour in December last year, he took a break from the national team due to personal reasons and did not play any competitive cricket for two months. In February he made a comeback from the DY Patil T20 tournament.
