Jay Shah has been holding the post of Secretary of BCCI for the last 5 years. Now he is going to take over the post of Chairman of ICC. He will take over the command of ICC from December 1. Jay Shah was elected the new boss of ICC in August itself and now about a month before his joining, it has been suggested to change the rules for the post of chairman. If he is accepted then he can remain its boss for two terms of 3 years each. Earlier, the tenure of the Chairman used to be in 3 terms of 2 years each.

Suggested new rules in Dubai

The ICC board held a meeting in Dubai last weekend. During this time the board had given suggestions regarding changes in the rules. The board had said that in future the tenure of the chairman and independent director will be 3 years each. At present the ICC Chairman holds three terms of 2 years each. ICC has also issued a statement on Monday 21 October. In this he told that this new recommendation will be sent to the full and associate members for approval. This rule will come into effect as soon as they get their permission. ICC has not yet given any reason behind this recommendation. But according to the report of Cricinfo, this decision has been taken to run the biggest organization of cricket in a better way.

The ICC Board believes that this will provide security and stability to the Chairman and Independent Directors. He will be able to work freely without worrying about elections every two years. However, the total tenure will remain the same as before, 6 years. 35 year old Jay Shah will replace the current chairman Greg Barclay. Barkley was selected for the first time in 2020. Since then he has completed 2 out of 3 terms. The post of Independent Director is lying vacant, the responsibility of which was with former Chairman Indra Nooyi. This year he had completed all his three terms.

Changes in the rules of women's ranking also

The ICC Board also approved the women's FTP i.e. Future Tour Programs for the 2025-2029 cycle in the meeting held in Dubai. It will be announced soon.
