Rohit Sharma made costly moves that impacted India in the first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru. The Kiwis won the game by 8 wickets, and now the Test captain is facing heat for his leadership. Ravichandran Ashwin was given the ball when the game was almost over in the second innings. In his two overs, he troubled Will Young and Rachin Ravindra and nearly dismissed both of them.

Despite Ashwin being one of the best off-spinner in the world, Rohit preferred Ravindra Jadeja over him. Earlier, Rohit decision to bat first after winning the toss was also questioned. He also didn’t bring back pacers when Rachin and Tim Southee were hitting the spinners for fours and sixes in the first innings.

Parthiv Patel didn’t like Rohit’s leadership performance in Bengaluru. “Rohit Sharma’s captaincy was surprising in the second innings. He didn’t bowl R Ashwin at the start, and he was given just two overs when the game was in New Zealand’s hands. In 12 balls, Ashwin created several chances of taking wickets. Rohit didn’t have a good match as a captain.

“When Rachin Ravindra and Tim Southee were going strong, he should have brought fast bowlers, but he persisted with the spinners, which allowed the two to add important runs to the total,” Parthiv Patel said on JioCinema.

Earlier, Rohit also accepted his mistake in reading the pitch. He thought it was a flat track, but the New Zealand pacers dismissed India for 46 runs in the first innings, and the hosts could not make a comeback.
