Former India National Cricket Team player Virender Sehwag has given an important suggestion to Babar Azam who was dropped from the team for the remaining two Tests against England. The new selection committee removed the star batter along with Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Sarfaraz Ahmed.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board revealed that Babar Azam has been rested and not dropped to manage his workload.

Sehwag spoke about Babar’s omission from the Test squad and suggested him to compete in domestic cricket and work on his fitness.

“Babar Azam should play domestic matches and work on his fitness. He should also spend time with family and then return to international cricket as a fitter and mentally stronger person,” Sehwag told Shoaib Akhtar.

Sehwag mentioned the mental aspect of the game.

“He is mentally tired because of captaincy issues and decrease in expectations. Babar Azam needs to be mentally strong. He is a quality player and players like him bounce back quickly,” he added. .

Babar has been in poor form in Test cricket for a long time. In the last 18 innings, the right-handed batter hasn’t scored a fifty.

Babar scored 30 and 5 across two innings in the first Test in Pakistan’s defeat by an innings and 47 runs.

He was replaced by Kamran Ghulam in the second Test who scored a hundred on his debut. Pakistan defeated England by 152 runs to level the series 1-1 with one match to go.
